McPHERSON, Kan. – The Mission Society, which sends Christian missionaries to ministry assignments worldwide, will present a Global Outreach Weekend Sept. 23-25 at McPherson Free Methodist Church in McPherson, Kan.

The event will give Christians a deeper understanding of the biblical basis for missions across the globe and challenge them to become more involved in outreach at home and abroad.

“God uses the local church,” said Stan Self, senior director of church ministry at The Mission Society. “It’s his primary means of evangelizing the world. These Global Outreach Weekends are one way we mobilize local churches and help them realize their role in God’s plan of reconciliation.”

The Rev. Roger Wright, Mid-West regional director for church ministry at The Mission Society, will lead the Global Outreach Weekend at McPherson FMC (http://macfmc.org/). The event will include a six-hour outreach workshop starting Friday, Sept. 23, from 7-9 p.m. and continuing Saturday, Sept. 24, from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Wright will also minister at services on Sunday, Sept. 25.
