Report on Kenyan Mission Mobilization Leadership Development Conference

12.16.2008

The Mission Society held a Mission Mobilization Leadership Development Conference in Kericho, Kenya, December 1 – 5, 2008. More than 700 pastors and leaders from the Africa Gospel Church (AGC) attended the conference.

Dick McClain, Darrell Whiteman, and Steve Wilson from The Mission Society; Rev. John Kareithi, Rev. David Mutai, and Paul Leleito of Kenya; Rev. Max Wilkins from Gainesville, FL; and Rev. John Hull and Steven Peters from The Woodlands, Texas led the conference.

These conferences are designed to provide dynamic motivation for missions, as well as equip national pastors and other Christian leaders to lead their congregations and ministries in outreach ministries locally, nationally, and internationally. In addition, participants are equipped with critical tools needed for communicating the Gospel across cultural barriers.

It was an outstanding event, highlighted by moving times of prayer. Imagine the sound of 700 people all crying out to God at the same time as they interceded for missionaries, for unreached people groups, and for their own response to God's call. We heard stirring testimonies of transformation and it all culminated with a powerful closing service. Several leaders talked about the huge impact this conference will have on their church. At the end of the closing challenge, Dick McClain asked those who had received a call to full-time missions and had said "yes" to that call this week to stand so we could pray with them. About 20 people came forward!

We believe that significant fruit will be born out of this conference. David Mutai, director of missions for Africa Gospel Church, anticipates a surge in church planting, evangelism, and missions.

We invite you to join us and continue praying for these leaders as they go out from this conference. May their passion and zeal be contagious as they seek God’s transformation of their churches and communities - that many would respond to Christ and be moved to action in their faith.
