Mission Mobilization Conference in Kenya

image
12.02.2008

In recent years the Lord has opened doors for The Mission Society to conduct international leadership development seminars that we call Missions Mobilization Conferences. These conferences provide dynamic motivation for missions, and equip national pastors and other Christian leaders to lead their congregations and ministries in outreach ministries locally, nationally, and internationally. In addition, participants are equipped with the critical tools needed for communicating the gospel across cultural barriers. Previous conferences have resulted in numerous new mission initiatives to under-reached population groups and many new churches being planted.

During one of these conferences held in Kenya in August 2007, the assistant to the bishop of the Africa Gospel Church asked The Mission Society to return in 2008 to present the same teaching to a large gathering of his denomination’s pastors. We agreed to come in December 2008. At the time, it was anticipated that as many as 450 leaders might participate, and we have been planning accordingly ever since.

On Monday, November 17, we learned that 1,200 pastors and leaders have registered for the conference which will be held in Kericho, Kenya, December 1 - 5. This is by far the largest international leader mobilization conference we have ever conducted. The potential for impacting not only Africa Gospel Church but hundreds of thousands of people who do not yet know Christ – especially from unreached or under-reached tribes in Kenya and the neighboring countries – is enormous.

Please pray for the team who will be leading the conference: Dick McClain, Darrell Whiteman, and Steve Wilson from our home office; Rev. John Kareithi, Rev. David Mutai, and Paul Leleito of Kenya; Rev. Max Wilkins from Gainesville, FL; and Rev. John Hull and Steven Peters from The Woodlands, Texas.
