Stay Connected. Pray Together. Advance the Kingdom.

By Doug and Shelly Fears, CoServe Consultants and former cross-cultural witnesses

For generations, TMS Global has brought together people with a shared heart for God’s mission—people who have prayed, served, supported, led, grown up in, and walked alongside this work.

We have served with TMS for almost 20 years, and one of the things we love most is the friendship we’ve found with people who share a heart for God’s mission. Over the years, we’ve continued to hear the same longing from across the TMS community: We would love to stay connected.

That longing is the heart behind the new TMS Alumni+ Network, a relational, volunteer-led community designed to help people with shared TMS experience reconnect, pray together, encourage one another, and remain engaged with what God is doing through TMS Global.

The Network is open to people with a meaningful connection to TMS Global, including former cross-cultural witnesses, former staff, former board members, current CoServe Consultants, adult TCKs, donors, extended family members, and others who love and support the mission of TMS.

What could the TMS Alumni+ Network become?

We are dreaming about a growing, intergenerational community of TMS friends who come together for:

  • Fellowship, regional gatherings, and reconnection
  • Prayer for current and former cross-cultural witnesses, TMS Global, and the least-reached
  • Encouragement across generations, including mentoring relationships with adult TCKs, young professionals, and veteran workers
  • Advocacy, storytelling, and appropriate pathways of engagement that support the mission and visibility of TMS Global

As Jim Ramsay, president of TMS Global and former cross-cultural witness in Kazakhstan, said, “When people serve with TMS Global they build deep connections with the community. They often experience that loss when the formal connection ends. The Alumni+ Network will give people the opportunity to keep those community connections as well as to continue to serve in God’s mission with TMS Global as they are able.”

Others have echoed that same hope.

  • Ruth Burgner, retired staff member: “I love the TMS Global community and what the Lord is doing through this community in the world!”
  • Angela Beise, former cross-cultural witness: “I’d like to be connected to the people and ongoing work of TMS. Also to connect with former co-workers.”
  • Lauren Helveston, former cross-cultural witness and former staff member: “I like the idea of staying connected with people we had close friendships with and who impacted and shaped our lives.”

Led by people who know and love TMS

As Organizational Connectors for the TMS Alumni+ Network, we are grateful to help support this volunteer-led effort and serve as a bridge between the Network and TMS Global.

We are also grateful for the volunteer Leadership Council helping steward this vision:

  • Hannah Grace Attaway, adult Third Culture Kid
  • Joyce Chellis, former cross-cultural witness
  • Frank Decker, former staff member
  • Harrison DeJarnett, former cross-cultural witness and adult Third Culture Kid
  • Shawn Ramsay, former cross-cultural witness and former staff
  • Bill Walker, former board member

Together, this team will help steward the Network’s vision, recommend priorities, foster healthy engagement, and serve as ambassadors of TMS Global’s mission and values.
