Before, We Were the Mission Field. Now We Are the Mission Force.

At a recent gathering of COMIBAM USA in Chicago, an affiliate of COMIBAM International (Cooperación Misionera Iberoamericana)—mission leaders from across Latin America and the United States filled the room with energy and vision. Agencies, churches, and networks came together around a shared goal: to see every people group reached with the gospel.

Among them was Delilah Berrios, TMS Global’s director of mobilization and candidacy, who helps connect Latin American and U.S.-based Latino believers with opportunities to serve around the world.

“COMIBAM isn’t a sending agency,” Delilah explained. “It’s a network—a bridge. We connect people, resources, and training so those who sense God’s call can find their next faithful step.”

That bridge is becoming more important every year as global missions (and TMS Global) moves from a Western-sending model to a from-everywhere-to-everywhere model.

Across the Americas, the Global South is no longer only a mission field—it’s a mission force. And nowhere is that more visible than among Latino believers.

“Many young Latinos are bilingual,” Delilah said. “They’re digital natives, risk takers, and eager to do something meaningful with their lives. They can step into places and relationships that others can’t. Their language, culture, and physical traits often open doors that might stay closed to someone else.”

For instance, Latin Americans often have access to gospel-restricted countries like China and Iran that are much more difficult for Westerners to access. This shift isn’t only strategic—it’s spiritual. God is raising up a generation ready to live out obedience and courage in new ways.

“Imagine one person saying yes to God’s call,” Delilah said. “Now imagine 100 people doing the same. The ripple effect of that kind of obedience changes families, churches, even nations.”

COMIBAM gatherings now span nearly every Spanish-speaking country and several U.S. regions. Each one offers the same invitation: listen for God’s voice, discover your role in His global story, and take the next step of faith.

As this movement grows, it’s redefining what global mission looks like. The Church is no longer defined by sending and receiving countries—it’s a body on the move, made up of believers from every nation, taking the gospel to every nation.

Or as Delilah summed it up: “God is using the Global South to reach the unreached. If you’re not part of it, you’re missing what God is doing right now.”
