Jack Althouse recently published a book, Second Sight, which is the first in a series of seven novels. Some of the proceeds from Second Sight will be donated to Mission Society missionaries with whom Althouse has worked. The Ivey family in Peru, the Reyes family in Brazil, and missionaries in the Middle East (who cannot be named for security purposes), will all receive donations.

Althouse first became involved with The Mission Society through his involvement in a short-term trip to Paraguay. He remembers, “Johanna Stahl (a Mission Society Mission Representative) asked me to go with a short-term team she was leading to Paraguay. We did street evangelism door to door. The scariest, most exciting thing I had ever tried to do for Christ. Now when I get to go on a trip like that, it's just plain fun. The Mission Society gets it. They are not afraid or ashamed to carry out Jesus' command to go into all the world and make disciples. They hear the call and do it. Straight, simple, and bold.”

Jack Althouse is a national award-winning architect with 30 years of experience. His “day job” fuels his passion to study and explore ancient architecture and uncover worldwide evidence of pre-Colombian contact between far-flung ancient cultures. Jack and his wife have been happily married for 25 years and have five children, two who were adopted from Russia. Jack and his wife are involved in many Christian organizations and participate in short-term mission trips. Their shared passion is to reach out to the poorest and most destitute people of the world, especially orphans.

An excerpt from a press release regarding the book explains, “Jordan Wright, former Navy Seal turned architect, has made the discovery of a lifetime. An ancient carving on a sea cliff in Peru points the way to Egypt, where a buried chamber may be hidden beneath the Pyramids of Giza. Legend claims the chamber contains the priceless artifacts and history of mankind dating back to the dawn of time. Joined by a team of archeologists and funded by a mysterious benefactor, Jordan travels to Egypt, where he discovers more than he bargained for – a portal to a long forgotten time.

He is marooned in the Second Age of Man—the Age of Atlantis. Hailed as a prophet, he is thrown into the midst of a brutal war of epic proportions. There he must not only fight for the lives of his companions, but quite possibly the survival of the human race.”
