Kazakhstan is a geographically large country with only 17 million residents. It has remained fairly stable and fared better, economically, than many of the other former Soviet nations. The population is comprised mostly of ethnic Kazakhs and Russians. Most Kazakhs would identify themselves as Muslim, and Russians as Orthodox Christian.
In previous years, a TMS Global team, along with their local partners, planted churches in northern Kazakhstan, all of which have been under local leadership for several years. They also established a primary/secondary school and an adult English education program that are still functioning today under local leadership. Currently, the team is refocusing their ministry on a smaller scale, developing discipling relationships with Kazakhs to share about Christ.
