Coordinator of TCK Ministry - Part-Time Opportunity

TMS Global, a non-denominational Christian mission agency based in Norcross, Georgia, is seeking a part-time TCK Ministry Coordinator.

 

Founded in 1984, TMS Global exists to mobilize and deploy the body of Christ globally to join Jesus in His mission, especially among the least reached peoples. Our work involves training, mobilizing and serving cross-cultural workers around the world, as well as, delivering resources, training and education to US churches to enable them to enhance their mission impact.

 

Position Summary:

Global operations exists to ensure the work of TMS Global’s cross-cultural witnesses is done with excellence and in alignment with the organization’s mission statement, and to seek out new avenues for growing in effectiveness and global impact.  The Coordinator of TCK ministry will equip, engage, and enable our cross-cultural worker families, with a special emphasis on children and youth, as they serve cross culturally.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To provide pre-field training for TCKs and their families. 
  • To coordinate TCK programs and to provide age-specific resources for TMS Global gatherings and retreats.
  • Recruit and manage volunteers needed for TMS gatherings and training events.
  • To implement a systematic program of ongoing communication with TCKs and families through various appropriate media.
  • To develop and maintain a database of relevant information on each of the TCKs.
  • To plan and implement visits to TCKs and their families, in coordination with the global engagement department.
  • To keep abreast of trends, research, publications, and conferences that address issues related to TCKs and their families.
  • To maintain a resource library and make available use for TMS Global staff and cross-cultural workers.
  • To serve as the staff resource person for educational issues, especially as they relate to homeschooling.
  • To participate in the debrief process: mid-term, on the field, and reentry.
  • To implement the elements of child protection as set forth in the TMS Global Child Protection Policy and Procedures Manual.
  • To work with the director of member care in the development and oversight of an annual operational budget for TCK ministry, and to administer that budget on a sound fiscal basis.

 

Job Knowledge:

The individual should have a minimum four years’ experience living and working cross culturally as a cross-cultural worker or TCK or commensurate experience of serving people in that capacity. He/she should have good interpersonal and listening skills, especially relating to children of all ages. Familiarity with the unique challenges of being a TCK, as well as knowledge of basic pastoral care, is critical. The ability to develop, administer, and oversee a complex system of care in a spirit of collaboration and flexibility, and to simultaneously manage multiple projects is essential. A working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and basic computer skills is needed.

 

Personal Requirements:

The individual must be tactful in personal contact and written correspondence related to the various needs of the staff, public, cross-cultural witnesses, donors, and church leadership. The individual must enjoy working and communicating with people. The individual must have a demonstrated commitment to the equality of all races, backgrounds, and ethnicities. The individual must have the ability to organize teams and administer their operation. A high degree of integrity and confidentiality are critical in this position.

 

Physical Requirements:

Work should require light to moderate physical activity with a reasonable amount of repetitive motion. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
