Experienced bookkeeper, Part-time with flexible schedule

TMS Global is a non-denominational missionary-sending agency dedicated to mobilizing the body of Christ globally to join Jesus in his mission of making disciples, especially among the least-reached peoples. Our staff enjoy a team environment and purposeful work that makes a difference around the world.

We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper to maintain our financial records, including donations, receipts and payments using Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge software programs. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of two-to-three years of experience with strong references. Must have advanced working knowledge of Excel and able to work with formulas and pivot tables. Ultimately, the bookkeeper’s responsibilities are to accurately record all day-to-day transactions for our company. The candidate will be able to work three days a week, 22-25 hours/week.

Position summary:
To keep an accurate accounting of TMS Global’s finances by processing cash receipts and payments in a timely and detailed manner. This is a part-time position, working three days a week, 22-25 hours/week. 

Reports to: Director of finance

Job type: Part time. 20-25 hours/week. Flexible schedule.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  • To live a lifestyle that is above reproach and worthy of the calling of Jesus Christ, and live in accordance with the faith statement and core values of TMS Global.
  • Enter and deposit cash receipts, including donations, correctly into accounting system. Issue tax-deductible receipts.
  • Enter accounts payable invoices and run checks. Respond to accounts payable issues.
  • Obtain W9s and process 1099s for all appropriate vendors each year.
  • Process payment for healthcare invoices and prepare journal entries into accounting system.
  • Review purchasing card expenses to ensure receipts are collected and approved.
  • Assist the director of finance with the annual audit.
  • Maintain financial business process manual, updating written procedures.
  • Answer financial questions relative to donations and cross-cultural worker account balances.
  • Maintain filing system and record keeping in keeping with the organization’s record retention policy.
  • Provide administrative support to finance team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job knowledge:

  • Minimum high school diploma, (Associates degree, a plus), with a minimum of two-to-three years of experience.
  • Above-average mathematical skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel and able to work with formulas and pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of standard bookkeeping practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Able to handle money and sensitive giving information in a professional and confidential manner.
  • Experience using accounting software (Blackbaud Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge, a plus).
  • Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Bookkeeping certification, a plus.

Physical requirements:

  • Work should require light-to-moderate physical activity with a reasonable amount of repetitive motion.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
