Director of Development

Reporting relationship: Vice president for advancement

Advancement department’s mission statement: To provide strategic oversight and direction to the advancement and communications endeavors of TMS Global.

Position summary:
To oversee the scheduling and implementation of all donor-related special events. Define and follow through kingdom initiatives process. Develop and maintain relationships with donors through effective communication and care.

Major duties and responsibilities:

  1. To live a lifestyle that is above reproach and worthy of the calling of Jesus Christ. To live in accordance with the faith statement and core values of TMS Global.
  2. To be committed to an example of life-long learning and continuous intentional growth in the study and life application of God’s Word.
  3. To develop and lead a planning team to carry out major donor events.
  4. To coordinate all details for major donor events through ongoing communication and collaboration with the president, executive leadership team, guest speakers, cross-cultural workers, vendors, audio/visual team, travel agent, guests, and all support staff.
  5. To develop relationships with major donors through appropriate communications leading up to the major donor events, during events, and in follow-up in hopes of leading them towards deeper engagement with TMS Global.
  6. To engage with the discovery, development, and retention of major donors.
  7. To evaluate the effectiveness and results of the annual major donor event as well as constructively engaging in ongoing development of that event, and creation of additional events, and regional gatherings with the president or representative staff and/or constituents of TMS Global.
  8. To collaborate with the president and executive leadership team on the process of developing yearly initiatives to raise significant financial resources for the unrestricted expenses of TMS Global. To creatively and effectively communicate these initiatives across our donor spectrum and constituency.
  9. To work with the communications department in the development of advancement-related communications, including donor “thank you” communications, initiative and other donor communications, and advancement reports to the board and donors.
  10. To collaborate with the whole advancement department on the development and implementation of a full range of development concepts and strategies designed to increase the overall number of donors and deepen TMS Global’s relationship with all donors.
  11. To assist the vice president for advancement and the advancement department with administrative assistance as needed.
  12. Any other reasonable duties as assigned by the vice president for advancement.

Job knowledge:
The individual shall have significant work experience in marketing, donor relations, or a related field. Additionally the individual should have a strong working knowledge of event planning, team building, and complex project management. People skills, relational intelligence, and networking skills are essential. Administrative skills and ability to use current office productivity software systems is also essential.

Personal requirements:
The individual must be tactful in personal contact and written correspondence related to the various needs of the staff, public, cross-cultural witnesses, donors, and church leadership. The individual must enjoy working and communicating with people. The individual must have the ability to organize teams and administer their operation.

Accountability:
The individual must be tactful in personal contact and written correspondence related to the various needs of the staff, public, cross-cultural workers, donors, and church leadership. Physical requirements:
Work should require light physical activity with a reasonable amount of repetitive motion. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. This position may require some off-site travel.
